I-84 Is Closed This Weekend
Portions of I-84 will be closed throughout the weekend (10/08/21-10/11-21). The reason is that construction on a new bridge will be taking place. This bridge is for pedestrians and bicyclists and has been in the works for a few years. The closures will begin on Friday evening and last through very early Monday morning. It is unusual for an interstate to be closed this long. There are sure to be some delays as traffic must take other routes. As such, plan your weekend accordingly.
The city of Portland described the closures as follows:
Both eastbound and westbound I-84, along with on-ramps, will be closed, with some variations, around the clock from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8 to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11. Westbound I-84 will be closed from I-205 to I-5 and onramps at NE Halsey, NE Glisan, NE Sandy and NE 33rd will be closed. Eastbound I-84 will be closed from I-5 to NE Cesar Chavez Blvd. I-5 and I-205 will remain open.
